Mt. Kerinci is the second highest
mountain (3,805 m) in Indonesia after
Carstenz Pyramid in Papua.
It is the highest volcano in Indonesia and the
second highest volcano in Southeast Asia.
Situated in Sumatra, home of Sumatran rhinos,
tigers and elephants. Reaching the summit
entails 7 hours trekking through tropical
rainforest and 3 hours on gravel and sand.
Upon arrival at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang, we will be transferred by car to
Kersik Tuo Village. The ride will take about six hours. We have dinner and spend the night at a
homestay.
The next day we will start our treking through tropical rainforest. We will camp at an alitude of
approximately 3300 meters.
The following day will start very early with a climb to Kerinci’s summit. After viewing the sunrise,
we will return to the campsite for breakfast and continue the trek down to Kersik Tuo Village. We
have dinner and spend the night at a homestay.
After breakfast at the homestay on the fourth day, we climb up to Gunung Tujuh lake, the highest
lake in South-East Asia. After we come down, we will be transferred back to Padang. Overnight in
hotel.
The last day after breakfast at the hotel we’ll be transferred to Minangkabau International Airport
in Padang for our flight back home.
