3 Days / 2 Nights Indonesia, here we come! For this hike we will climb the  famous 1883 “big bang” Krakatau volcano. Krakatau, also called Krakatoa, lies in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra.

Krakatau in fact is a group of small islands, Krakatau or Rakata Island, Panjang Island and Sertung Island. Prior to the 1883 eruption Krakatau Island had three volcanic cones: Rakata, Danan and Perboewatan.  When Krakatau Island blew up in 1883 it was entirely destroyed but the area remained full of volcanic activity. In 1930 a new island rose up out of the water where once Krakatau was and it was named Anak (child of) Krakatau. Anak Krakatau is still active and grows almost 7 metres per year. A two hours trekking through a dusty path will lead us to the volcanic peak of Anak Krakatau at an altitude of more than 800m. From here you can enjoy the panoramic view on the Sunda Strait with nearby islands. We have some cultural and optional recreational activities, like snorkeling, included in the package. In fact almost all you need is included in this package: transportation from and to Jakarta Airport inclusive of highway toll, speedboat transfer, accommodation in guest house, cultural performance, camping equipment (tent, mats, sleeping bag, lighting), cooking and dining equipment, meals (from lunch on day 1 till lunch on day 3), mountain guide, porter fees, climbing permit and entrance fees, certificate of participation and photo CD. What's not included?
