Sunday 26th February 2012
Unlike the weather on the 25th, it was now rather misty and cloudy. No wonder, I was in Fraser’s
hill for a survey of the Pine Tree Trail with Henry’s group and Jaya Kumar. Jaya and I spent most
of the time together and by the time we reached the summit, the sun was shining in all its glory.
The dark clouds which were surrounding us didn’t predict anything nice however. We met Mark
and Karen on our way down - what a surprise - and managed to reach the car park before the
expected downpour. Because the weather was still okay, we extended our survey activities and
had a look at some other hiking possibilities like the Ulu Semangkok trail.
Saturday 25th February 2012
A beautiful morning and sunny weather; a promising start for a hike on a part of the Klang Gates
Dam Trail. I opted for a loop and we returned heading for Tabur X and the orang asli settlement.
Sunday 19th February 2012
We made a hiking trip to the relatively unknown Lubuk Mecu and Lata Medang with a big group
of KL Hiking. Because the weather must have been dreadful Saturday night, the current in the
mountain streams was extremely powerful. This created some delay while crossing the collapsed
bridge. The muddy 4WD track was not that easy for those with shoes without profile, but as
soon as we started the climb, the track was harder and easier accessible.
All hikers enjoyed the splendour of the two waterfalls which were at their best now with strong
currents and tonnes of water coming down every second.
The weather remained quite well and everyone made it safely to the car park late in the
afternoon.
Saturday 18th February 2012
Our Singaporean neighbours came all the way up to Janda Baik to experience their climb of
Gunung Nuang. Although the morning looked promising, it started to rain by the time the last
hikers reached the summit. In almost 911 Nuang style we descended and were surprised by the
countless streams downhill that were formed after the heavy downpour. We managed it to stay
within the time schedule so the Singaporeans headed safely home after a challenging hike.
Sunday 12th February 2012
Initially I had some other plans, but didn’t regret it that I went for a double survey hike. I tried
to find my way to the famous Tabur X and with the help of some orang asli, I managed to reach
the ultimate point. Afterwards I had a relaxing hike in the Gombak Forest Reserve and a
refreshing dip in the Klang Gates Dam lake.
Saturday 11th February 2012
Our first sunset hike to Kutu. I am sure there are more to follow. Although we didn’t see the sun
go down, the spectacle of the day turning into night was fabulous.
Monday 6th February 2012
Went with Siva for a survey hike to Lubuk Mecu and Lata Medang. Although the place is so close
to Gunung Kutu, the hike is completely different. Hope to take the KL Hikers over there soon...
